Primary Data and Sources

For this class you will be doing original research and need to use some form of primary source material. The material might be in the form of data or in the broader category of material that historians call "primary sources." In history, a primary source is a record made at the time of an event by participants or by firsthand observers, such as contemporary newspaper or magazine accounts, correspondence, government reports, etc.

The next three pages in this guide are about these types of information. For more assistance contact Claire Curry, Science Librarian or Laurie Scrivener, History and Area Studies Librarian.
