U.S. Documents Masterfile (was Public Documents Masterfile) is a continually expanding resource for locating all manner of public documents. The database provides a comprehensive guide to federal, state, local, and international public documents, spanning over 200 years of publication. U.S. Documents Masterfile includes title information for federal documents and subject index entries from Poore’s, Hickcox, and the GPO Monthly Catalog.
As of July 2010, U.S. Documents Masterfile contains over 3,000,000 records, including:
· Title information for all federal government documents from 1789 - present with SuDocs numbers
· Full bibliographic records for all post July 1976 GPO documents
· Full bibliographic records for all public documents held by the Library of Congress from all sources for all dates
· Initial files of full bibliographic records for state, provincial, and international public documents
· First stop for public documents research
· The Paratext search engine is designed for rapid search and retrieval from millions of bibliographic records
