NGOs, Resources, & News
The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA)
The IWGIA is a human rights organization focused on Indigenous Rights. Additionally, they release an annual report, The Indigenous World, which is the "unique result of a collaborative effort between Indigenous and non-indigenous activists and scholars who voluntarily document and report on the situation of Indigenous Peoples’ rights."
HRW is an NGO focused on research and advocacy on a broad range of human rights violations across the world. Their page on Fossil Fuels localizes news, information, and research regarding the intersection of human rights and extractives.
Global Centre For The Responsibility to Protect
The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect works to research and advocate for vulnerable populations across the world. The Populations at Risk Map would prove very useful to extractive companies when preparing to expand operations into a new country, giving them insight into vulnerable and at-risk populations to ensure their protection during development and expansion.
United Nations Indigenous Peoples News
The UN compiles news relevant to Indigenous People into one location with further resources and updates.
Amnesty International Country Profiles
Amnesty International compiles profiles about countries regarding their death penalty status, news about the country, and a report on the country. This can be a valuable resource to extractive companies when conducting human rights due diligence to ensure they are aware of human rights risks relevant to operations in that country.
Business & Human Rights Resource Centre
The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre works with NGOs, governments, civil society, and companies to advance human rights in business and eradicate abuse. The Centre compiles news and resources for both those affected by abuses and for companies working to better their human rights policies and procedures.
