National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) of 1935 (Wagner Act)

An Act to diminish the causes of labor disputes and burdening or obstructing interstate and foreign commerce, to create a National Labor Relations Board, and for other purposes,

  • 29 U.S.C. § 157 in particular governs the right of employees as to organization, collective bargaining, etc. 

Labor Management Relations Act of 1947 (Taft-Hartley Act)

An Act to Amend the National Labor Relations Act, to provide additional facilities for the mediation of labor disputes affecting commerce, to equalize legal responsibilities of labor organizations and employers, and for other purposes. 

The 1947 amendments to the NLRA are known as the Taft-Hartley Act. Pub. L. 80-101, June 23, 1947, 61 Stat. 136. The Bill was discussed in the Joint Committee on Labor Management Relations, and the hearing can be found on HeinOnline. [Part 1] [Part 2

Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (Landrum-Griffin Act)

An Act to provide for the reporting and disclosure of certain financial transactions and administrative practices of labor oraganizations and employers, to prevent abuses in administration of trusteeships by labor organizations, to provide standards with respect to the election of officers of labor organizations, and for other purposes.
