This is a guide to help researchers understand the microform area on the 4th Floor outside Government Documents.

Minolta Reader/Printer Instructions

IN GENERAL

   *This machine reads microfiche and microfilm.

   *Copies are free, but do not abuse privilege.

TO READ MICROFICHE

1. Turn on machine

2. Pull out slide tray, insert microfiche, push tray back in: Ready to use!

3. Use buttons and dials to print, make image bigger or smaller, etc. (see below).   

TO READ MICROFILM

1. Turn on machine

2. Install film (see diagram on left machine reel…sometimes it is difficult to load reel, so be patient): Ready to use!

3. Use buttons and dials to print, or make image bigger or smaller, etc. (see below). 

USE OF BUTTONS & DIALS

   *Green ‘Start’ button to print

   *Darker and Lighter, to make image darker or lighter.

   *Lens Blue dial to make image bigger or smaller

   *Lens Brown dial to focus image

   *Grey dial to rotate image

   *Arrows on film tray, to go through film

   *Red arrows, to speed through film (only works with tray out)

   *Do not push buttons randomly, other than what is noted on these start-up instructions.

PRINTING

  *If you want to print landscape, press Output Select

  *If you want to change printing from landscape to normal, press Output Select

IMPORTANT CODES

PE = Paper Empty 

TO LOAD PAPER:

*Load in middle tray

*Do not overfill paper

*Paper tray is persnickety, so be careful loading the paper, or it will not operate properly.

IF THERE IS A PROBLEM

Turn machine on and off, to reset it.
