Figuring Out Where Journals Are

If you find a citation to a journal article in a bibliography or get a recommendation of a journal title from a professor, and aren't sure where to find it, go to the Local Catalog, and do a search for the journal title. The library's home page also has a journal search function allowing quick access to journal title searching.

The example below demonstrates how to find the journal American Historical Review.

Type in the title of the journal in the Local Catalog as in this screen shot:

And you will get a screen like this:

The journal is available online.

When you click "Online access" you'll see something like in this screenshot:

Every database is different, but the next screen will probably allow you to choose the year you need. If the issues aren't listed on that page, look for words like "archive" or "issues" or "back issues" to get to the year you need.
