Finding Full Text

Many database records for journal articles include links to the articles in full text. Other records contain abstracts and citation information, but not complete articles.

Where is the article?

There are four possibilities:

  1. The article is online full text in the database you are searching.
  2. The article is not online in the database you are searching, but the OU Libraries have it online in another source.
  3. The article is not online, but it is available in print or on microfilm/fiche at the library or in storage.
  4. The article is not held by the OU Libraries. In that case, we can obtain it from another library through Interlibrary Loan.

Whenever the full text is not available in the database you are searching, you will see a link that says Check for Full Text.

What do I do if the full text isn't online?

First, check if the article is available in the library. If the article is not available, you can use Interlibrary Loan to borrow it from another library. If it is available in print or microform, you can either visit the library to copy it or request it through Sooner Xpress.

NoteCheck for Full Text works with most library databases, but a few do not contain it. In those cases, go to the Local Catalog and look up the title of the journal that contains the article you need. From there, you can navigate to the specific article.
