Getting Started Databases
The databases listed below are great starting points for most research topics! The information found within these databases has been created by experts from multiple disciplines. You can access them from this research guide, or you can save them to your My Library Page on the OU Libraries' website.
- Academic Search CompleteComprehensive, multidisciplinary database covering social sciences, humanities, education, physical and life sciences, and ethnic studies with access to more than 7,000 peer reviewed journals and over 75,000 videos from the Associated Press.
- CQ ResearcherProvides CQ Researcher reports that explore a single "hot" issue in the news each week, including political, social, medical, international, educational, environmental, technological and economical issues. Full text available.
- Google ScholarGoogle Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research. Use Google Scholar to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.
