Article Galaxy Scholar is a service that allows the Libraries to purchase articles for faculty. Articles from select journals can be requested through links in Discover or on the open web through the Lean Library extension. A webpage for eligible articles will automatically appear when you click on “Request article via Interlibrary Loan” in the View It section of Discover or when you click on “Request Article” in Lean Library. You will be directed to OU's single sign on page to login with your username and password. Click "Request PDF" and the pdf will be delivered via email. Articles are typically delivered within 30 minutes.

The Libraries recommends the Lean Library browser extension for seamless access to the Article Galaxy Scholar service.  You can learn more about Lean Library in the section below.

Lean Library

Lean Library is a browser extension that lets you take the library's online resources with you. If you are searching the web for resources rather than the library's website, Lean Library will let you know if a resource you are looking at is available through OU Libraries or will directly link you to the ILL article request form (check out the Don't Buy It, Borrow It page in the Your Guide to OU LIbraries to learn more).

Clicking on the Request Article button of the Lean Library pop-up will take you directly to the Article Galaxy Scholar webpage.

If an article is eligible for purchase, you will be directed to an OU single sign on (SSO) page and then an Article Galaxy Scholar webpage will appear.

University Libraries will purchase this article on your behalf and it will be delivered to your email with an average turnaround time of 30 minutes. If you do not need the item urgently, you can request the article through Interlibrary Loan using the "Click here to order through ILL" link. ILL article requests are usually filled in 36 hours or less.

OU Libraries regularly reviews our publisher-based commitments. As OU Libraries revises subscriptions with Wiley, Elsevier, and Springer, some journals are removed from our active subscriptions and are instead available in Article Galaxy Scholar from the date of their cancellation.
