Bloomberg Law
Of the three major research platforms (i.e., Westlaw, LexisNexis, and Bloomberg Law), Bloomberg Law is noted as the one providing the most financial information. Arriving on the legal research platform market in 2009, Bloomberg Law is developed from Bloomberg's depth in providing financial information. Bloomberg Law is often considered an excellent resource for transactional law practices such as Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Law and Governance.
Locating Company Information
Researchers can find company information in one of two ways. First, the researcher can enter the company name or ticker symbol into the One Search bar at the top of the screen.
The researcher will note the COMPANIES tag next to the company name and selecting it will retrieve the company profile. In addition to providing the financial and company information of other resources, the legal researcher will also note the graphic of law firms representing the company as well as the case types.
Dockets and Litigation Analytics
The researcher can drill into the firm and case data to view the underlying dockets from which this data is derived.
Business Intelligence Center
Bloomberg Law provides a Business Intelligence Center. This subsite includes a collection of company research tools including setting up a dashboard to track a company and a company report writer. With this latter tool, a researcher can select one or more items to include in a report which will then be produced as a formatted PDF or Word document.
