Commonly Deaccessioned Materials
These materials are often deaccessioned from collections during processing:
- PII documents with Social Security numbers, Driver’s Licenses, Student IDs, Insurance cards
- Personal financial records unrelated to collection topic (taxes, bank statements, credit card bills and receipts) this does not include research or travel grants unless PII present
- Medical records
- Personal legal records: adoption, divorce, wills/trusts/mineral deeds particularly if recent or unrelated to research opportunities in the collection
- Student grades, attendance records, enrollment records, class rosters, unpublished works such as papers, tests, never-finished- theses/dissertation drafts
