Maps, Maps, and More Maps
The Youngblood Energy (Geology) Library has more than 150,000 maps.
Types of maps:
- Topographic
- Geologic
- Stratigraphic
- Structural
- Tectonic
- Oil and Gas
- Land Use
- Railroad
- Highway
- Tourist (city, state, country)
Arrangement of Maps:
- Most maps are arranged geographically (by country or by state) and are shelved in flat map case drawers. Each drawer has a unique number.
- Maps-in-series are arranged by series number and are shelved in lateral files.
Maps can also be found in the OU Libraries at:

How to Find a Map in the Youngblood Library
1. How to find a topographic (topo) map (Map case drawers #T1-T300)
- More than 50,000 maps
- Drawers are arranged alphabetically by state.
- Within each state, maps are arranged alphabetically by quadrangle name.
- Don't know the quadrangle name? We can help you at the Youngblood Library information desk.
- We keep all editions of topo maps, with the most recent on top.
2. How to find a domestic or international map (non-topographic) (Map case drawers #1-465)
- Easiest way: find the drawer(s) for the country or state and look through the maps inside
- Another option: search the library's catalog, Discover Local, by subject: e.g., geology France maps
3. How to find an Oklahoma map (non-topographic) (Map case drawers #80-92)
- More than 1,000 maps
- Search the library's catalog, Discover Local, by subject: e.g., geology Oklahoma Cleveland County maps
