Cleaning

Outreach Students will need to complete walkthroughs of Bizzell at the start of the 8 AM shift and repeat again at 7 PM. If there is an event scheduled at the same time, that event becomes the team's first priority and cleaning/resets will resume once the event setup is complete. 


Lower Level 1

Start on the HCLC side, working clockwise through the Learning Lab

  • Get your needed supplies
  • Wipe Down study tables
  • Erase whiteboards 
  • Update event boards
  • Spot vacuum as needed
  • Reset Furniture

Lower Level 2

Start on the Graduate side working through the Scholars Lounge and finishing in the Faculty area.

Be sure to check on the Keurig and refresh the water tank. 

  • Get your needed supplies
  • Wipe Down study tables
  • Erase whiteboards 
  • Spot vacuum as needed
  • Reset Furniture

Floors 2-4

Start on 4 and work downward.

  • Get your needed supplies
  • Wipe Down study tables
  • Update event boards
  • Reset Furniture
  • Gather any stray books and return them to Circ

Glass

  • When cleaning any glass in the space, use the Windex and paper towels. 

Whiteboards (Main Floor, Study Rooms, Study Spaces on 3rd & 4th Floors, LL1, Learning Lab)

  • Use Whiteboard cleaner & clean rag.
  • Clean the steel trays around and under the whiteboard with a Clorox wipe.
  • Alert supervisor of any whiteboards or walls that will not come clean with normal effort.
  • Put dirty rags in bin in LL2 closet.

Glassboards  (Learning Lab, LL2)

  • Use Windex cleaner & clean rag.
  • Clean the steel trays around and under the whiteboard with a Clorox wipe.
  • Alert supervisor of any glassboard or walls that will not come clean with normal effort.
  • Put dirty rags in bin in LL2 closet.

Vacuuming

  • The vacuums come with several attachments and can be easily taken apart. After every use, the canister needs to be emptied. Push down on the red lever and it will release all of the dirt into the trash can.
  • Once a week, the bottom rotating brush needs to be taken out and cleaned. If it does not rotate when being used it needs to be cleaned. Take a coin to unlock the side part, remove the cap, and it will be able to slide out.
  • When finished using/cleaning them, put them back on their chargers in the employee closet.

Deep Cleaning (Summer/Winter/Spring Break)

  • Move furniture and trash cans.
  • Report Building needing repairs.
  • Clean walls.
  • Clean screens of classroom Laptops
  • Clean Prism screen with microfiber cloth and screen cleaner.

HCLC Study Rooms

  • Clean all white boards with Expo Cleaner
    • For stubborn stains, first use alcohol spray, then use Expo Cleaner (Expo Cleaner replaces white board protectant that alcohol spray removes)
  • Clean glass doors and walls with Windex and either paper towels or microfiber towel
  • Vacuum
    • Move furniture (chairs, tables, desks, trash cans) to vacuum carpet underneath furniture
  • Wipe down all hard surface furniture (vinyl material, wood, plastic) with Odoban or Multi Surface spray
  • Bundle all cords and secure in Command hooks
    • Replace any missing Command hooks or add additional Command hooks where needed
    • Replace any missing HDMI or VGA cords
  • Wipe Monitor screens with microfiber towels or Electronic screen wipes

Furniture Tips 

  • Keep all furniture 2-3 inches away from the wall.
  • Report any damaged furniture to your supervisor.
  • Remove damage furniture from public spaces
