You all are killing it when answering EAL & Chat questions!! -from Magen
Awesome EAL patron comment, "My dear Theo: I want you to know this: I suddenly got the score I was looking for! Simply! I went to the Conservatorio Nacional de Música; some 5 miles away from my home!" Theo sent this non-OU patron a list of public libraries in Mexico as well as a direct link to the item's record in WorldCat, which he used for his ILL request. Way to go Theo!
Awesome Chat patron comment, "Best experience that I have ever had with an on line library. I thought the process was going to be stressful but the assistance was fast and to the point. Excellent and I will definitely be more relaxed when accessing the resources in the future. Thanks again." This comment was connected to a chat message answered by Courtney Kennedy! You are a rock star Courtney!
September 5:
To send permalinks from CQ researcher, prepend https://login.ezproxy.lib.ou.edu/login?url= to the CQ article's URL. Quick reminder - there are two EAL macros for when patrons email us about not being able to login to the library website, but we only use one of them.
The first time they email us, reply using the "Login - Library Website (First Contact)" macro.
Then, if they are able to login to accounts.ou.edu, transfer them to the Web Services queue.
Otherwise, if they are not able to log in, refer them to OU IT.

GA's, the training materials for answering LibAnswers Email Tickets has been updated. Please review this document because it has new information about monitoring the Computer Lab Queue. The handout, LibAnswers Email Tickets Training Materials for GA's, is under the Emails Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Ask Magen or Patrick if you have any questions about the handout or monitoring the Computer Lab Queue!
May 17:
You can find instructions and helpful hints on the Computer Lab page. If you are working Computer Lab Desk, be sure to monitor both the Learning Lab Queue and Chat and the Computer Lab Queue. Today is professional development day for full-time staff. Courtney and Magen will be checking email frequently, so message us if something comes up. Sarah Robbins will be in Bizzell in case of an emergency.
May 14:

May 10:
There will be a scheduled infrastructure upgrade that will start on May 13th at 7:00 am for the Intranet and May 20th at 7:00 am for the main libraries’ website. The sites will have intermittent outages during these times. Each of these maintenance windows should only last 2 to 3 hours.

May 2:
UC Action Psychology is having a finals week study session at their usual tables (20-24) on May 6th and 7th from 6-8pm. Please set out the opening signs that say "UC Action will be in the Learning Lab at 5:30 pm." I don't care if it says another subject and not psychology—Court and I don't want to print out new signs just for two days—just be sure its the opening sign that says 5:30 pm for UC Action. Then at 5:30 pm, please switch out the opening signs with the reserved signs and clear people out of the tables so they will be ready for the UC Action tutors at 6:00 pm. Since the Learning Lab Desk closes at 7:00 pm on the 6th and 7th, Magen is going to stay until 8:00 pm to pick up the tabletop acrylics.
April 30:
Schedules for Finals Week and the first week of summer are now on the LibGuide.

April 3:
UC Action Latin sessions on Thursdays has been canceled for the rest of the semester. I've updated the Campus Partner Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box.
March 28:
Hello all,
We have some progress on troubleshooting the SoonerCard situation.
It appears that a small number of people are having trouble accessing the LL2 graduate space between 7-9PM.
We have given the circulation desk additional temporary graduate access cards for people to use as needed.
Please be mindful when roving that we do not want to have the doors propped open so please encourage any users that are having trouble to contact an LET team member so that I can troubleshoot.
Until we have a long term resolution I will be carrying my computer with me so I can look into any issues. Feel free to call/text me so that people are not inconvenienced more than a few minutes to either get ahold of me or get a temporary access card from circ.
Thanks
Eric
March 14:
There will be no campus partner event next week during Spring Break! OU Writing Center will start back up on Sunday, March 24th. UC Action & the STEM Librarians will start back up on Monday, March 25th.
March 11:
It should be on the calendar, but for this week UC Action Latin will on Tuesday, 3/12, from 5-7 pm instead of on Thursday, 3/14, from 3-5 pm.
March 4:
Claire will not be in the Learning Lab for her hours tomorrow. I've updated the Learning Lab Outlook Calendar and the Learning Lab LibCal Calendar. Also, today is the start of Presentation Consultations @ the Learning Lab's walk-in hours. From now until dead week Presentation Consultations @ the Learning Lab will be open in the Learning Lab Classroom on Mondays & Thursdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
March 1:
The Subject Liaison tab has been updated under Contact Information on the User Services Guide.
February 18:
The Learning Lab will soon be receiving a collection of popular titles to go on our wooden shelves.
Please see the new LL Shelving tab under Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties for more information on how to shelve and maintain our new collection.
February 6:
UC Action's Math sessions on Mondays have moved to Tables 17-19 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. UC Action Physics sessions will stay at Tables 20-24 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This change has been updated on the LibCal Calendar, Outlook Calendar, and the Campus Partner Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures, & Duties Box.
The Writing Center does not want the TV monitor to be moved near table 1. It is to be left by the Learning Lab desk. I've updated the special setup instructions for the Writing Center in the Campus Partner Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box.
February 2:
At this time, we are up and running on all but two of the WEPA printers. IT has been working with WEPA to get replacement parts shipped, so I feel good about being back up and running full strength sometime mid next week. Please continue to help people print using the printers near the KIC scanners, or if necessary help users locate the printer in the Learning Lab or in the LL2 workroom.
Feel free to mail or message me if there are any issues over the weekend.
Eric
February 1:
Info about Kanopy from UL Faculty Newsletter: Did you know that the Pioneer Library System also provides access to the Kanopy video streaming service? PLS library card holders may access up to 6 videos per month. Anyone who lives, works, attends school or owns property in Pottawatomie, McClain and Cleveland county communities is eligible for a PLS library card.
January 31:
I've updated the Campus Partner Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box with the instructions on OU Writing Center's hours video and the TV monitor.
January 29:
The Timekeeping tab under Training has been updated with helpful documents for Workforce and WhenIWork!
January 24:
OK... Patrick helped me compress the Learning Lab Hours video file so its small enough to fit on the TV monitor's USB drive, so please review the new opening and closing procedures for Spring 2019 in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. If the steps are not clear, I also created a handout with pictures!
We now have dry erase markers available upon request for patron usage. They are located in the cabinet next to the desk.
January 23:
UC Action added another subject on Thursdays. Biology will be at Tables 20-24 on Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Like on Mondays & Wednesdays, there's a small break in between UC Action sessions on Thursdays. So I posted the special set up instructions for Thursdays underneath the special set up instructions for Mondays and Wednesdays.
Also, I made a mistake when I added Brent's Learning Lab hours in the Exchange Calendar for the Learning Lab. I've fixed the mistake and now all of his hours should reflect the official Learning Lab Calendar on LibCal.
Lastly, I had a meeting with the Writing Center last week, and they made a request to change our opening signage language. Our new opening signs for the semester will show the time you all change the opening signs for the reserved times (meaning 30 minutes prior to the partners start time). For example, UC Action Chemistry is scheduled to be in the Learning Lab on Wednesdays at 2:30, but their opening sign says 2:00. Apparently, our partners have had some complaints from students who don't wish to evacuate their seats because the table top opening signs say the students technically can have the table for 30 more minutes.
January 22:
The opening and closing signs are in the wooden file folder organizer that has six hanging files—there's one for Sunday, one for Monday, one for Tuesday, one for Wednesday, one for Thursday, and one for General. In every hanging file, there's a file folder for the campus partner(s) for the day. Every campus partner folder holds both sets of signs (opening and reserved).
January 18:
We are having issues with the TV monitor and the Learning Lab hours sign... I'm working on a solution, and I'll let you all know when you can start following the new opening and closing procedures I updated yesterday. -Magen
January 17:
Courtney updated the opening & closing procedures to include the new steps for the TV monitor and the hours sign. Please review the opening & closing procedures and email Courtney to let us know that you've reviewed the the new procedures.
January 15:
Laurie said that the Richard III History Sleuth assignment is coming up. There's a new professor teaching the course this semester, so she might allow only primary source materials. Laurie is going to double check this, and report back to me. In the meantime, the Richard III handout I created last year for this class should still help you help other students find sources about Richard the III.
December 21:
Note from Magen:
During the spring semester, while Cheryl is on sabbatical, Karen Antell is going to take over all things instruction and I'm going to take over Cheryl's liaison duties to PACS (College of Professional and Continuing Studies AKA College of Liberal Arts). Within PACS is Museum Studies, so I will be the liaison for museum studies majors as well.
December 18:
Hourly timesheets for the pay period ending January 4th (December 22-January 4) will be due by noon on Thursday, January 3rd. GA timesheets will also be due at the same time.
Just met with UC Action's Director, Jami Houston, to talk about their Learning Lab stats for this past fall semester... And they had 737 visits to their UC Action sessions in the Learning Lab for Fall 2018! Their number of visits for Fall 2017 was 441... Go UC Action! I haven't heard back from the Writing Center to find out their numbers, but when I do I'll post an update!
December 12:
The LibAnswers PR Queue is not being consistently monitored. So if any tickets come in that are about PR, marketing, social media, event bookings, etc, assign these tickets to a User > Public Relations and Marketing, Listserv, which is an Address Book account in LibAnswers.
December 11:
Updated info about scanning OU Master's theses:
OU Libraries will scan OU Master's theses as long as there is an official request for the item. For the OU people they will need to place an ILL request for the OU Master’s thesis, and indicate they want a scanned copy in the Notes section on the form. For the non-OU people, they will need to place an ILL request at their closest public library for the OU Master’s thesis, and indicate they want a scanned copy in the Notes section on the form. After Barb and her digi team scan the Master’s thesis, it will be uploaded to ShareOK. The customer will receive the scanned copy via ShareOK, thus giving the rest of the public free access to an OU Master’s thesis that would only be available in physical form.
I've created two new EAL Macros for these questions. There's a Macro for questions about "Scanning OU Master's Theses for OU Patrons" and "Scanning OU Master's Theses for NON-OU Patrons."
December 10:
We have a new feedback macro for EAL tickets. If you answer a READ scale level 3 or higher, or if the interaction was significant (use your best judgment here), follow up the interaction by providing a way for the patron to provide feedback. The Macro is called EAL Customer Feedback.
Fall, 2018
December 7:
From Sarah:
The plan for this weekend is to shift our Bizzell hours so that we begin the 24/7 schedule on Sunday rather than tonight. For tonight, we will close at 9 pm as we traditionally do on Friday. For Saturday, we will also be open our regular hours, from 9 am – 9 pm. On Sunday, the plan is to open at noon.
I know this impacts many areas, so please communicate with your teams as appropriate. If campus closes tomorrow, we will follow their lead and close. However, that decision will not be made until tomorrow morning. For communications, we need to get this updated on our website, on our door signage, and on social media.
From Magen & Ashley:
Your Learning Lab shifts on When I Work stayed the same. The 24/7 schedule does not affect the Learning Lab hours.
December 6:
In the Discover Local catalog, some books say "Request for Purchase via Sooner Xpress." These books are part of what is called Demand Driven Acquisitions. The document Demand Driven Acquisitions is under the Research Help tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties box to help you know how to explain the process and assist patrons when they are looking for a book that is available through a library purchase request.
December 5:
OUR will be continuing their hours in the Learning Lab during finals week. They will be at Table 6 on Sunday from 4-7, Monday 3-7, and Tuesday 4-7. Please set out the signs and reserve the table accordingly.
December 5:
I've uploaded the total ARL stats for the Learning Lab as well as the other service desks to the Learning Lab Documents Box. The document is called "Learning Lab ARL Stats for FY 2017-2018." Since we are an ARL member, we have to report our reference transactions every fiscal year. ARL defines a reference transaction as an information contact that involves that knowledge, use, recommendations, interpretation, or instruction in the use (or creation of) one or more information sources by a member of the library staff. The term includes information and referral service. Information sources include (a) printed and nonprinted materials; (b) machine-readable databases (including computer-assisted instruction); (c) the library’s own catalogs and the other holdings records; (d) other libraries and institutions through communication or referral; and (e) persons both insides and outside the library. This definition does not include simple directional questions. A directional transaction is an information contact that facilitates the logistical use of the library and that does not involve the knowledge, use, recommendations, interpretation, or instruction in the use or creation of information sources other than those that describe the library, such as schedules, floor plans, and handbooks.
November 30:
Message from Sarah about the First Amendment Audits:
These audits are citizens exercising their first amendment rights by filming in a public building and then posting their experiences on YouTube, many times by livestreaming it on YouTube. From what I’ve reviewed, the best course of action seems to be ignoring rather than engaging them. When ignored, they film random plaques and books and art but were relatively good about not filming the faces of customers, etc. However, if we get complaints or if they are making you uncomfortable, please ask them to cease filming. If they refuse to cease filming on grounds of their first amendment rights, rather than continuing to engage, if you are in Bizzell, please call security; if you are in a branch, please call OUPD. And, remember, you are being filmed – remaining calm, respectful and professional is a must. Please also alert your student workers of how to properly respond should this happen during evening or weekend hours.
November 19:
Starting November 24th, hourly employees (peers) will enter their time on an electronic timesheet system called Workforce. GAs will begin using the system on December 1st. OU Payroll has a website with video and PDF step-by-step instructions. Watch the videos in Workforce for Employees. Also read Basic Time Entry for instructions on how to enter your time. We will be updating our opening procedures soon to include opening Workforce and entering time for Peers and GAs. Scheduling will still be done through WhenIWork. Workforce is only replacing your bi-weekly or monthly timesheet.
NOTE: Time should be entered on half-hour intervals, because the system messes up if time is entered on :15 or :45 (If you input :15 or :45, you will be underpaid).
November 6:
Tim Smith and I need help testing the AI chatbot, SoonerBot, on the libraries’ development site. Try thinking of questions that fall under READ Scale levels 1 & 2 (i.e. where are the bathrooms, how to search for journals, what are the hours of operation?). Tim said that when you are testing if you would use the thumbs up and down feature to let us know what was helpful and what was not helpful!
November 2:
Please see new announcement on the User Services Tab. Both handouts are also uploaded to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box.
October 31:
UC Action is canceling their ECON sessions on Monday. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box as well as the Outlook calendar and the LibCal Spaces calendar.
October 29:
Laurie Scrivener, our history librarian, will be unavailable on November 2-9 (back at the library on the 12th). If there are any history questions that come in during this time, please transfer those questions to Courtney Kennedy. If there are any political science questions or international and area studies questions that come in during this time, please transfer those questions to me, Magen Bednar.
October 18:
Students enrolled in Dr. Kimberly Marshall's Religion in Everyday Life class might visit Learning Lab to get help on their assignment. I uploaded a how to document called "Religion in Everyday Life Assignment" to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. The handout goes over Kristal Boulden's search recommendations.
October 12:
On Wednesday the LET student came to update the walkie talkie channel because they were picking up interference from construction workers. The new channel our walkie talkies should be set to is 45.
October 10:
Magen has updated information in the Campus Partner Schedule tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Please review the changes and updates. Let us know if you have any questions about them.
October 9:
I've added a new training document to the Chat & SMS Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. The new handout is called LibChat Contact Icon, and its the last pdf listed under the Chat & SMS Training Materials Section.
October 8:
Amanda Schilling will NOT be holding office hours today in the Learning Lab.
Claire Curry will NOT be holding office hours in the Learning Lab tomorrow, October 9th. She will, however, be available by email.
October 5:
OUR will not be open in the Learning Lab this Sunday, October 7th. However, the Writing Center WILL be open in the Learning Lab!
October 2:
UC Action is canceling their Wednesdays' BIOL sessions starting tomorrow, October 3rd. I've updated the Learning Lab LibCal calendar as well as the information on the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. For UC Action's new Wednesday schedule:
- At 10:00 am, we will set out the opening sign that says they will be in the Learning Lab at 2:00 pm.
- Then swap out the opening signs for the reserved signs at 1:30 pm.
- Then at 4:00 pm when UC Action CHEM session is over we will put out the opening signs that say they will be in the Learning Lab at 6:00 pm.
- Then swap out opening signs for the reserved signs at 5:30 pm.
September 28:
In order to keep our EAL replies to patrons more uniform, I've updated Patrick’s Generic Macro (now called the Signature Macro) as a standardized signature for us in LibAnswers. This Signature Macro is now required for all replies to patrons (you do not have to use the Signature Macro when you send internal notes or when you transfer tickets to queues or users). I've updated the EAL Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box with this new information (look under the E-mail Etiquette for Answering Questions section). I've also included a handout at the bottom of the EAL page that goes over the steps for applying the Signature Macro in LibAnswers.
September 27:
There have been some changes to UC Action's ECON schedule and OUR's Wednesday schedule. UC Action ECON is moving to 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm on Mondays, and OUR is moving to 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesdays. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. I have new opening signs I am printing off to reflect the schedule changes.
September 26:
Jackie emailed again about transferring tickets to WHC Queue instead of to Jackie or Lina individually.
Correct Process for Transferring Tickets to the WHC Queue:
- When a ticket comes in that needs to be transferred to someone in Western History Collections, you should transfer the ticket to the WHC Queue.
- Click on Assign/Transfer
- Open the Transfer to drop-down menu, and select Queue
- Select the WHC Queue
- Leave the default as "Do not assign to a specific user"
- Type in a quick note to the WHC people
- Then click on Submit as New!!
You all have access to this handout that goes over transferring tickets to a queue. Its on the EAL Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Since I sent the last reminder email to the GA's only, I'm emailing and posting this announcement so Peers will know the process as well... I want to make sure everyone is on the same page in regards to transferring tickets to a queue.
September 19:
UC Action changed the hours for their CHEM sessions on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 2:00 pm. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Please review this information!
September 19:
Good afternoon!
Stacks Management has started shifting books from Deck 4 to Deck 5. Our goal is to condense the contents of the Decks enough to leave Deck 1 empty. The shift will take quite awhile, so I don’t plan to update all the signage immediately. Right now, only the contents of Decks 4 & 5 have changed. As we finish each deck I will update the website and then work with Chelsea Julian to update all the signage when the full shift is finished. The endcap signs for each range will be updated as we go. If patrons have trouble finding anything, Angela or I should be able to help.

September 17:
UC Action CHEM starts this Wednesday, September 19, in the Learning Lab, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Please remember to put out the appropriate UC Action signs. You'll need the "UC Action will be in the Learning Lab at 3:00" signs for tables 20-24.
September 14:
OUR has changed their Sunday hours, and added Wednesday hours. On Sundays, OUR will use table 6 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. On Wednesdays, OUR will use table 5 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. I've updated the Campus Partner Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. I've also posted an announcement about this on the User Services Guide's Homepage. We already have an opening sign that says "OUR will be in the Learning Lab at 4:00 pm today." So we will use that sign on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. We still need the OUR opening sign that says "OUR will be in the Learning Lab at 2:00 pm today" for Thursdays. And there should still be a sign that says "OUR will be in the Learning Lab at 3:00 pm today" for Mondays.
September 11:
There have been 3 subject trainings scheduled!!
September 21st @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm with Claire in Learning Lab Classroom
October 5th @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with Brent in Learning Lab Classroom
October 26th @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm with Molly in Learning Lab Classroom
September 6:
UC Action added another subject session for the semester. UC Action CHEM starts September 19th from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. We already have an opening sign for UC Action that says they will be in the Learning Lab at 3:00 pm, so we will just reuse those and can recycle the opening signs that say UC Action will be in the Learning Lab at 4:00 pm. Claire Currie, like her other STEM Librarian counterparts, will be holding office hours in the Learning Lab on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Claire's office hours will start September 11th. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. I've also updated the User Services Information Box with the new UC Action CHEM info.
September 4:
UC Action added another subject session for the semester. The new session is for Latin and it will be in the Learning Lab on Thursdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. I've also updated the User Services Information Box with the new day and time for UC Action Latin.
August 30:
To start our Fall semester, we have provided a Fall 2018 Learning Lab Training checklist under the the Orientation and Training tab in the Learning Lab Employees box. This is checklist of things all Learning Lab employees need to know for working at the desk. Please review the procedures listed in the checklist. Print, complete, and turn in the checklist to Ashley Domerese by September 7th at 5:00 pm.
Theo pointed out that the guide does not actually cover how to greet patrons on the phone, how to call non-OU numbers, or how to call OU numbers. So I've updated the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box with a new tab called Telephone/Calls. It combines the old Transferring Calls and Long Distance Calls tabs with the new information about greeting patrons and calling OU and non-OU numbers.
August 30:
Ashley and Magen have moved offices! We are now in LL108N. When you turn in timesheets you need to turn them in at LL108N NOT 149. If we are not in our office, then you can slide your timesheet under the door.
August 29:
Please review the Opening and Closing Duties and email Ashley and Magen when you've done this!
August 27:
I've updated the Opening & Closing Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box with the information about the new Learning Lab Calendar in LibCal. Please review the duties and email Magen and Ashley once you've done this.
I've also updated the Learning Lab LibCal Tab, which is also in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. Please review this tab as well and email Magen and Ashley once you've done this.
August 24:
Yesterday, Mike with OUR informed me that his OUR Peer Ambassadors ARE going to have Learning Lab hours this semester! I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. OUR will start their Learning Lab hours this coming Sunday, so Margarita please review the set up procedures for our campus partners. Jagadeesh will be working with you, so he can help you with the process on Sunday if you have any questions.
Also, two our STEM Librarians, Brent and Amanda, will be having office hours in the Learning Lab to coincide with UC Action sessions. Amanda will be at table 18 on Mondays from 6-8 and Brent will be at table 18 on Wednesdays 4-6. Ashley has printed off their opening and reserved signs and put them in the Research Consultation folder. Their opening signs say, "A STEM Librarian will be in the Learning Lab at 4:00 pm today!" Their reserved signs say, "I"m a Science Librarian. Please ask me questions!"
Ashley has also printed off the new signs for UC Action, OUR, and the Writing Center!
August 21:
A new announcement has been posted on the User Services Page.
I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box. We are only setting up for Writing Center and UC Action. OUR will be using the new mobile classroom for workshops instead of office hours in the Learning Lab. Ashley and I have UC Action opening signs for UC Action as a whole instead of for their subject sessions i.e. UC Action will be here at 2:30 today. When you are setting out opening signs for the day, be sure you are setting out the signs with the correct times.
August 16:
Lower Level 1 is finally back open! Yay! Tonight at the end of the shift, please relocate our Learning Lab items back down to the lab. We will be working down there starting tomorrow.
August 15:
I’ve been busy setting up new queues in LibAnswers for History of Science Collections and Western History Collections. The WHC’s queue is not quite finished, but the HoSC’s queue is set up. So if the Learning Lab queue receives any questions about materials in the John and Mary Nichols Rare Books, the Harry W. Bass Business History Collection, William Bennett Bizzell Bible Collection, or the History of Science Collections you should transfer the question to the History of Science Collections Queue instead of to a user. Remember, when you transfer a ticket to a new queue, you should submit the ticket as new! If you are unsure about this process, please review this documentation, which is saved under the EAL Tab in the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box.
August 9:
If you want extra hours next week, Karen Antell is organizing the volunteers for UL's open house on August 16th and 17th. You can't volunteer during the 10:00 am - noon shifts on the 17th because of bootcamp. But if you like to talk about the library with people and help soothe new freshmen anxiety, then the open house tours are super fun! Also, if you can work the Breakfast @ the Bizz on Saturday, August 18th that would be awesome too! Morgan Stanley is running the breakfast, and she has asked for student volunteers to show up at 8:30 am.
Summer 2018
August 2:
A new announcement has been posted on the User Services Tab!
We've received a couple of calls from professors and GA's who want to reserve a library conference room/meeting room for their class for a whole semester. This type of room reservation request goes against our room policies. So tell the professor that he or she needs to contact OU Classroom management. Here is the contact details:
Phone: 405-325-3572
Email: classroom-management@ou.edu
Website: http://www.ou.edu/enrollment/classroom_management/classroom_reservations
July 30:
The procedures for booking a table in the Learning Lab for consultations have changed. Please review the Learning Lab LibCal Tab on the Learning Lab Policies, Procedures, & Duties Box.
July 26:
So... I noticed an internal note on an EAL from a liaison librarian that was truly meant to be internal communication between library only peeps that was sent to a patron instead. This happens when liaisons do not use the LibAnswers system to send their replies back to patrons. I've updated the wording our system uses that will hopefully mitigate this problem. Let me know what you all think!
LibAnswers wording:
This ticket is assigned to you. Type your reply above this line to respond to the customer directly. This response will be sent to the patron.
To avoid sending customers responses meant for your library colleagues, the Learning Lab Staff recommends replying to customers within the LibAnswers' system. Use the following ticket link to add a reply to the customer or an internal note to library colleagues within the LibAnswers' system: [LibAnswers Link].
July 24:
Tabitha and I realized that we have more storage space at the LET Desk than I thought we were going to have, so I think we will have enough room to store the UC Action signs at the LET Desk instead of Circ. I've updated the Equipment Tab and the UC Action Set Up Tab in the July 23rd - August 10th Construction Relocation Information Box. There's also an announcement for the User Services part of the guide that you all need to read.
July 19:
The main floor relocation information has been added to the Learning Lab Policies and Procedures page. Its in a box called July 23rd - August 10th Construction Relocation Information.
June 19:
Access to the DA-DX call numbers will be open sometime this week! Angela Robertson and her team are working on re-shelving these call numbers now!
June 18:
I've added a new link to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box. The link is for the new Scholarly Resources for Visitors Guide.
June 14:
I have been informed that while the construction is going on in the Learning Lab, books under the call numbers DA-DX have been relocated to the LSC. However, if a book is checked out and returned, the books are being placed behind the New Books area, in the empty space in the decks.
June 11:
I was forwarded a voicemail from the Law Library about a patron needing physics sources for a daredevil motorcycle jump. His name is Mr. Mullins, and if he calls the Learning Lab line (5-4142), please transfer the call to my direct line, which is 5-4232. But please don’t give my direct line to Mr. Mullins.
June 7:
Remember, UC Action will be holding tutoring session in the Learning Lab starting on Monday, June 11th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Please review the set up process on the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box.
May 31:
I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box. UC Action's summer sessions will begin June 11th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Learning Lab.
May 30:
Ashley and I have been working on creating a Canvas Course for training purposes, and one of the modules is about academic freedom. I was reading the Chronicle of Higher Education and found an article that I wanted to share with you all. Its a rather lengthy article, but it does a good job about explaining what academic freedom is how it differs from freedom of expression.
May 29:
At the UL Day this past Friday, Barb from the Digi Lab, introduced repository.ou.edu, which is the official UL site for digital collections. I've added the link to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box. Since the Western History Collections haven't been added to the new Digital Collections site, I kept the link to the old UL digital collections site, but renamed the link to Western History Collections. This link is also on the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box.
May 14:
I've updated the Campus Partner Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box. Its only UC Action in the Learning Lab this summer. As of right now, they think they will on have two subjects in the Learning Lab, but this might change as we get closer to June 11th.
Spring 2018
May 7:
I've updated the images in the Learning Lab Expansion Plans Box.
May 2:
Here's some info about the weather from OU Emergency Preparedness:
Dinnertime This Evening (7pm -10pm)
Scattered lightning storms chances will be on the increase with severe storms possible. Besides frequent lightning and heavy downpours, large hail and damaging winds will be possible with any storms in this time frame. A tornado can not be ruled out with the strongest storms this evening. If you have any outdoor activities scheduled for this evening, have a plan for receiving weather warning information. If you are out running errands or have outdoor plans this evening, check the weather conditions before you head out.
April 30:
Please look in the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box to find the guide on how to find items in Braille in Discover.
April 27:
I've updated the Emergency Evacuation Procedures Tab in the Emergency Procedures & Information Box with the new severe weather refuge maps for LL1 and LL2.
April 26:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM CIRCULATION... The Digital Data & Metadata unit are working on procedures to deal with users with purged/expired Alma accounts. To kick this process off, they have isolated a list of almost 70,000 users that have expired accounts and those accounts have been set to “Inactive” in Alma. A note has been added to these accounts that say “CLR batch deactivated purged accounts 4/26”.
If a user shows up at the Learning Lab Desk (or calls, emails, chats, or texts), please refer the user to the Circulation Desk. At the Circulation Desk, a student worker will record the user's information (full name, contact number, and OU 4x4 and OU ID #, or Alma account number) and give to Doni for her to research why the account was expired. The Circulation student worker will explain to the user that they will be contacted once their account has been researched.
Do not tell the user that the Circulation student worker will be able to override the permissions so that the user will be able to check out items once again. Doni will have to do some research as to why their account should be reactivated before they will be allowed to check out items again... Basically Learning Lab Peeps, you should just refer those users to the Circulation Desk.
April 16:
I uploaded the dead week and finals week schedules to the Learning Lab Schedule Box.
April 10:
Google link shortener is going away... So I added a Google alternative Bitly to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box. I also updated the link in the announcement box on LibAnswers Dashboard.
April 9:
I've added a new tab to the Learning Lab Procedures Box called "Referrals." This has all the information I listed in the email I sent this evening. Please read over the process BEFORE the meetings with the subject liaison librarians next week.
April 3:
A couple of months ago, a professor gave a packet about first aid for seizures to Molly Strothmann. Molly didn't know what to do with the packet, so she gave it to Sarah. Sarah and I thought it was good information for our student workers to know, so we thought creating a guide with the information from the packets would be a good idea. So Courtney put together a LibGuide with all the packet information that is linked on the General Information Tab in the Emergencies Procedures & Information Box. Thank you Courtney for scanning all the information to create digital copies! Now, you might think you don't need to know this information, but three times in my life I've had a person who was either standing or sitting next to me go into a seizure and every time I panicked and froze.
I've uploaded this document to the EALs Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box to remind you all that transferring EAL questions to someone in Web Services is a different process than transferring EALs to liaison librarians or special collections.
April 2:
Remember to fill out the Doodle Poll so we can get the Subject Liaisons and Learning Lab meeting scheduled. Right now it looks like Ashley and I will schedule two meetings—three subject liaisons at one meeting and two subject liaisons at the second meeting.
March 30:
I've updated the Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box about the set up process for the Writing Center specifically! Please review those. I've added a new gallery box called Learning Lab Expansion Plans that shows the current floor plan for the expansion of the Learning Lab.
March 26:
Please review the updates and changes to the Emergency Procedures box regarding Evacuation and Threatening and Uncomfortable Situations before the meeting on Friday.
March 16:
Writing Center, OUR, and UC Action will not be in the Learning Lab on March 18-22.
OUR will re-open on Sunday, March 25th
Writing Center will re-open on Monday, March 26th
UC Action, UC Action ECON, and UC Action Physics will re-open Tuesday, March 27th.
March 15:
UC Action needed to change their schedule. After spring break, they will no longer be in the library on Mondays due to scheduling conflicts. Also, their Wednesday ECON sessions from 2-5 will also be canceled. UC Action ECON sessions on Tuesday and Thursday as well as the evening sessions Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will continue at their current times. I've updated the Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box.
March 13:
One of my goals for 2018 was to come up with a better way to offer and track projects for student workers. My temporary solution is this GoogleSheet. On the GoogleSheet, you'll see three sheets at the bottom.
The first sheet is a signup list of sorts.
If you have a project idea, you can add your name and your project idea to the list, and then I'll find a staff person or librarian for you to collaborate with and get your project assigned.
If you don't have a project idea but would like to be assigned a project, then you can just add your name and something that you are interested in or interested in learning to the first sheet, and then I'll try to find a project that's similar and get it assigned for you.
The second sheet is a list of current projects.
I've locked the first three columns so that only I can edit them. However, once your project is added to this sheet, you can edit the progress column yourselves.
The third sheet is a list of completed projects.
I've added this information to a new tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box called "Student Worker Projects."
March 8:
We now have access to expanded coverage of the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times through Proquest, including both the historical archive and the current content (minus the three-month embargo) via a single link. The database list has been updated with the new single link. Note that there’s a gap between the end of the historical coverage and the beginning of the current coverage, listed in the database descriptions.
Courtney has also added a link to OU's Digital Collections on the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box.
February 28:
Phew... Patrick and Sarah realized that analyzing the data for the Learning Lab Research Furniture Research Project is serious business! There are a ton of photos to go through, so its really time consuming to tally up the number of people sitting at a table in each photo. To help Patrick and Sarah with the analyzing portion of this project, starting tomorrow, March 1st, you need to fill out this Google Form immediately after you take your photos. The Google Form will take the place of the Furniture Research Log, so you don't have to initial the log anymore. I've updated the Learning Lab Furniture Research Page with the information about the Google Form as well as providing examples by the photos of the data that I would enter for each table.
February 23:
I've added an Assistive Technology Tab to the Learning Lab Procedures Box.
February 20:
OU Libraries is closing for the weather! No shifts or events in the Learning Lab!
February 19:
UC Action will no longer have sessions on Sunday nights. I've updated the Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box to reflect the changes to UC Actions Sunday schedule.
February 15:
Since the Circ. phone is temporarily out of service, please forward the Learning Lab phone to 5-8782!!
Also, I've updated the Learning Lab Procedures Box to include the Rose State History Student information. The pdf is on the Research Help Tab.
February 13:
I've updated the opening and closing duties in the Learning Lab Duties Box. I found a white pen holder that is big enough to hold a couple of call number cards. Now, we can have easy access to the call number card when helping patrons. I want to lock up the pen holder at night.
Also, Mike and I are going to leave OUR's table assignments as they are now:
Sundays - Tuesdays: Table 6
Wednesdays: Table 4 & 5
Thursdays: Table 5
February 10:
Please see the new page on the guide—Learning Lab Furniture Research. This is a project Sarah and I need your help on. You will be taking photos of the tables starting February 12th until March 12th. The Learning Lab Furniture Research page has more instructions, so please read them carefully! I've also updated the opening and closing duties to include the info for this project. If you have questions about what you are supposed to do, please email me or text 405-831-8276.
February 9:
There will be no UC Action sessions this Sunday, February 11th.
February 6:
Peers, when you close the Learning Lab, be make sure the telephone is plugged in when you place it in the lockable storage. I want the phone to charge overnight, so the opening shift won't have to worry about a low battery. GA's its your responsibility to oversee and help during closing (its not just up to the Peers), so please double check that the phone is plugged in and line is transferred to the Circ Desk.
I've added a link to the advertising red books in the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box. This is a reoccurring assignment that happens every semester.
February 5:
UC Action Physics is in the Learning Lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm using tables 22-24. Since that is when UC Action is also in the Learning Lab using those tables, the opening and reserved signs will need to share a table top acrylic. I've printed off the opening and reserved signs on one side of the paper, and the UC Action Physics folder is with the other partners' folders in the lockable storage by the vending machines. The Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box has been updated!
February 1:
I've updated the Contact Information Box. The old box didn't fit the new formatting/font changes I've made, so its been bugging me for a while.
On the Hours, Locations, Phone Numbers Tab, I've included separate links to the different service desks, branch libraries, and special collections. I've also included building names (for locations outside of Bizzell) and room numbers—thinking that this will help us when directing people. We won't have to wait for a different webpage to load—we can just click on the tab from this guide and see room and telephone numbers.
I've also updated the Non-Library Locations in Bizzell Tab—with a little more info about the Variorum Chaucer just for you Patrick;).
The Area Libraries Tab has also been updated. I've added all the Norman Public Library Locations as well as a link to the Area Libraries webpage from OU Libraries website. This webpage might be help if patrons are looking for other libraries/archives on OU Norman Campus that are managed separately from OU Libraries.
January 31:
Shout out to Mahlet for helping a demanding telephone patron yesterday! Courtney said Mahlet was super calm, patient, and helpful with the patron! We have an awesome team!!
One bit of info the telephone patron was looking for, was a list of articles by a particular author. Of course you can use the Discover Advanced Search, but where's the fun in always using the Discover Box? Web of Science will also find an author's scholarly output! I've added a research help handout to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box. Its a PDF in the FAQ section called "Finding Scholarly Articles by a Specific Author." The handouts goes over accessing Web of Science and lists some search tips.
January 29:
Since UC Action's Monday hours are different their Sunday, Tuesday-Thursday opening hours, I've printed off an opening sign just for Mondays. I'm going to keep all the opening signs in the same folder, so be sure you put out the correct opening sign.
I've added a link to the Research Help Tab in the Learning Lab Procedures Box about the library's copyright guidelines.
January 23:
I heard back from Mike with OUR!! For now, his hours in the Learning Lab for the spring will be 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays (this might change due to OUR personnel additions). Mike said he will start in the Learning Lab this Thursday, January 25th. Also, History Hub has changed their hours as well to Thursdays from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. History Hub's hours will begin this Thursday, January 25th. I've updated the Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box.
January 22:
UC Action changed their Monday times. Starting NEXT Monday, January 29th, UC Action will be in the Learning Lab from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm (this will only be changing for Mondays; Sundays and Tuesdays-Thursdays will stay at 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm). I've updated the Partner Event Schedule Tab in the Learning Lab Duties Box. I still haven't heard back from OUR, so I don't know what times they will be in the Learning Lab for this semester. I've sent a reminder email to Mike about the hours, so hopefully I will hear something soon!
January 18:
UC Action Learning Lab hours start this Sunday, January 21st. I've printed off new opening and reserved signs because their hours have changed from the fall semester. They will now be in the Learning Lab from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. As of right now, the Learning Lab will be hosting UC Action ECON tutoring sessions only (they may add a physics if they need space later in the semester). UC Action ECON will be in the Learning Lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm and on Wednesdays from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. I've printed off new opening and reserved signs for the ECON sessions as well. Tuesdays and Thursdays have their own opening sign and Wednesdays has its own opening sign. I still haven't heard back from OUR, so I don't know what their spring semester plans are.
I've also posted the schedule through March 2nd, 2018 in the Learning Lab Schedule box.
January 11:
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT PRINTING! As some of you know, CampusIT removed the canon printers over the break as the lease expired on that equipment. IT has been working to replace canon printers with WEPA printers and add additional units in areas where reporting shows high traffic. The major change that students will experience is that they will no longer be able to print and charge to their bursar account. We have been working with IT to get FAQs & talking points ready as well as an escalation path in place to handle issues. As part of this change IT now has a FTE that is assigned just to respond to WEPA printing issues. Please see the documents on the Campus Printing tab in the Learning Lab Procedures box and the IT website for tips and tricks. Feel free to let Eric Zemke or Kevin Buck know if you have any additional concerns. CampusIT is asking that any feedback/complaints are sent to: itfeedback@ou.edu
January 10:
I've uploaded the schedule for the next three weeks into the Learning Lab Schedule box. I've also embedded the Learning Lab Outlook Calendar to the Partner Event Schedule tab in the Learning Lab Duties box. This will have all the times the partners will be in the Learning Lab during the spring semester!
January 4:
I've uploaded a screenshot of the availability spreadsheet I use to make the schedule in the Learning Lab Schedule box. I thought I would share it so you all can see who is available to work during the same times (might be helpful for when you need shift coverage).
January 2:
Chelsea sent me the canned response she uses for questions about wedding the Great Reading Room. I've added her canned response to the Research Help tab in the Learning Lab Procedures box.
Fall 2017
December 15:
Kyndra had her baby! Both Kyndra and Adelyn are healthy and happy!!
December 12:
I've updated the Learning Lab Schedule box.
December 11:
I've printed off a new Winter Intersession Hours sign for the desk. I'll bring it down tomorrow. Our campus partners will not be in the Learning Lab this week. I've emailed them today to see if they've planned their spring hours, and when I receive that info from them, I'll update the "Partner Event Schedule" tab. Don't forget to pick up your finals week treat sacks (be sure to pick up the bag with your name on it. Since Patrick has joined our team, I had to scrounge for masculine office supply stuffs for him... Ha!).
December 6:
I've updated the "Research Help" tab in the Learning Lab Procedures box with the information about helping patrons access their old ILL/Sooner Xpress requests. I've also updating the "Partner Event Schedule" in the Learning Lab Duties box.
December 1:
There will be a brief service outage on Tuesday, December 5 beginning at 6:30 a.m., with restoration expected by 8:00 a.m. This is required for DevOps and Library Tech Platforms to complete some server hardware relocation, which should provide increased resiliency to outages going forward. We appreciate your patience in this matter. *Update* The interrupted services will be things like Laserfiche, Illiad (ILL and Sooner Xpress), and Quickbooks. The UL website and e-mail will be unaffected, but off-campus access to E-resources won't be available. Read the information to help people with finding resources during a service outage!
November 28:
Instead of combining the schedule as a pdf then uploading it to the guide, I created a new box titled Learning Lab Schedule. I inserted the schedule as images that can be seen directly from guide instead of having to download a pdf.
November 27:
I updated the Weekly Campus Partner Setup Schedule! Good luck with finals and final projects and grading (Courtney)!
November 21:
I finally updated the cleaning schedule! Sorry it took me so long Sheila!
October 31:
Happy Halloween!!!! I've uploaded the slides from October's monthly student training to the "Orientation & Training" tab in the Learning Lab Student Workers box.
October 30:
I finally finished the Thanksgiving schedule (it was as scary as I thought because the Learning Lab hours are reduced that week). I uploaded an updated fall schedule in the Learning Lab Documents box as well as the Weekly Campus Partner Setup Schedule in the Learning Lab Procedures box. I'm also uploaded the email I sent this morning about access to the Zarrow Lounge: If you encounter a Zarrow access issue, please do the following:
If the person contacted us through Email-A-Librarian, transfers the ticket as new to the Zarrow queue.
If the person contact us through in-person, telephone, or chat, then tell them to follow these step to access the online form:
go to libraries.ou.edu
click on “Hours and Location”
click on the “Zarrow” location page
scroll down until they see “Policies” and then click on “Access to Lower Level 2”
click on the “please apply online” link
October 23:
The Writing Center request another table, so I'm adding Table 5 to their table list. I've updated the Weekly Campus Partner Setup Schedule as well as printed out more opening signs and reserved signs.
October 12:
I've uploaded an FAQ for the new Zarrow Faculty & Graduate Student Center in the Learning Lab Documents box. It has talking points as well as layouts and notes about the new space. The LET students will be in charge of "policing" the Zarrow Center, but we might get questions from patrons about the space, so please read over this document carefully. For telephone, in-person, and chat questions, please email Sarah Robbins (srobbins@ou.edu) the question and your answer. For EAL questions, CC Sarah on question you answered or transfer questions you don't know how to answer to Sarah.
October 6:
First, I've updated the Weekly Campus Partner Setup Schedule spreadsheet to account for the UC Action Physics table changes. I've also uploaded the 2017 fiscal year stats we send to ARL every year. Third, I've updated the Guidelines and Referrals list on the EALs tab in the Learning Lab Procedure box. Finally, GA's, if we receive any emails about the new Faculty and Graduate Lounge aka LL2, assign those emails to Sarah Robbins.
September 29:
UC Action Physics needs to change their table from table 15 to tables 22, 23, and 24 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30. I know that this will overlap with the UC Action stuff, but that is what they have requested. I haven't updated the spreadsheet or printed out more signs, but I will on Monday.
September 22:
Peers, remember to login to the Learning Lab LibCal account during your shift. GA's, if you are working without a Peer, then you will need to login to the Learning Lab LibCal account. This where people will go to reserve a table for consultations. I've listed instructions on the Learning Lab LibCal Account tab in the Learning Lab Duties box.
September 14:
Sheila asked me about students access to OU databases and e-resources after they graduate. This summer Molly Strothmann and I created a guide about after graduation access. I've added a link to the guide in the Learning Lab Procedures box, under the Research Help tab.
September 12:
I've updated the Research Help tab in the Learning Lab Procedures box. There is a History Sleuth assignment coming up, and students need to find sources about King Richard III. The pdf I've uploaded will help you find these sources for the students. If you have any questions, please contact me or Laurie.
September 11:
I've updated the Fall 2017 Schedule and the Weekly Campus Partner Set Up Schedule documents. Also, GA's if you are working the Learning Lab by yourself without a Peer, please sit at the tall desk so patrons will know the desk is staffed.
September 7:
UC Action changed their table choices. Starting this Sunday, September 10th, UC Action's tables will be table 19 and tables 22-24. I've updated the Weekly Campus Set Up Schedule and printed off more signs. The only issue is that we do not have enough table top acrylics. I've asked Cicily from UC Action to bring some to tide us over until I can get some more ordered on the next supply request.
There’s been an update to how we set up for the Writing Center. They need a table specifically for sign-ins, so I’ve added table 17 to their table list. So on Sundays-Tuesdays, we will set out the opening sign on all 5 tables @ 10:00 am, and then clear the tables and set out their tabletop signs and our reserved signs @ 4:30. When the WC student consultants get to the Learning Lab, they will need your help to move table 17 closer to the table 1. Then we can open the closet in the LL123 classroom, and they can set up the rest. Before the student consultants leave for the night they will need to help us move table 17 back to its original place.
September 6:
I've updated the Fall 2017 Learning Lab Schedule pdf in the Learning Lab Documents box and the Weekly Partner Set Up Schedule in the Learning Lab Duties box.
September 1:
The Learning Lab Video is finally uploaded to YouTube and the libraries' tutorial page!
August 31:
UC Action added another tutoring session to the Learning Lab. Its labeled UC Action Physics. They will be meeting every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Also, be sure to note the change in hours for the History Hub. Their official hours are 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, but let's leave the reserved sign out until 9:00 pm just in case. I've uploaded the newest weekly schedule for our partners!
August 30:
OUR's table is going to change. I forgot that Mike is a tall dude, and table two is too short for his workspace. He would prefer a booth type seating, so I'll update the weekly campus partner schedule yet again! Also, I updated the Learning Lab LibCal account tab with procedures and screen shots!
Since OUR is no longer coming on Tuesdays, the table selection for the Writing Center has been updated. The Writing Center now use tables 1-4 every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
OUR has changed their Learning Lab days from Tuesdays and Wednesdays to Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I've updated the spreadsheet up through September 28th. Look at the "Partner Event Schedule" tab in the Learning Lab Duties box.
August 28:
I've added a tab to the Learning Lab Duties box called "Partner Event Schedule." It explains how to set up tables for the partners as well as who is responsible. Please email me and confirm that you've read over the duties and opened the the spreadsheet.
I've uploaded the schedule for Aug. 26th - Sept. 29th to the Learning Lab Documents box. Now you all should see who you are working with.
August 21-25:
I've updated the schedule for August 26th to September 15th. Some of the shifts I had some of you scheduled conflicted with the new availability you all sent me, so I had to do some changes! Please double check the When I Work notifications. I selected the little box to notify users when changes are made, so I hope you received the notifications. The PDF of the schedule for August 26th to September 15th is posted below as well as a spreadsheet of everyone's availability. This way you'll know who your working with, and who is available to switch with if you can work a particular shift. Also, just an FYI, you shifts will be more consistent after September 16th. You'll pretty much be working the same shifts every week. If you guys don't like working the same shifts every week, then we will test something new out in the spring semester.
I hope you all are having a good first week, Magen
P.S. I posted a timesheet and backdated timesheet for the Peer Research Mentors on the Training page, Timekeeping subtab.
